Never Enough Time
This week for many schools there are those on what is called Spring Break- a week off of school, or maybe even work. Some take the time to overschedule, feeling as if they need a vacation from their vacation when it is over while others take that time for needed rest and reflection.
There are many people that stay busy and where stopping even for a breath is a struggle. People look at them telling them to rest, but yet that is hard. Maybe I am talking to you or someone that you love and you want to know WHY. There are multiple reasons why people stay busy with each reason needing its own approach.
Overscheduling
Some people overschedule due to a lack of time management. One event is scheduled and forgotten about when another one is scheduled and now that person feels stuck in both commitments.
Overscheduling can also occur due to not taking stock into how long the commitment is or how long the task actually takes to accomplish.
Staying Busy
Sometimes people feel the need to stay busy. For some, they view themselves as more accomplished the busier they are at any given time. A full schedule=success or the appearance of success.
For some staying busy means that they do not have to feel. Maybe there has been a loss that feels overwhelming when a person stops for the moment. As long as they stay busy they don’t have to feel that loss.
Others stay busy so that they do not have to feel emotions. Feeling can be uncomfortable, scary, and distressful that not feeling those emotions can feel safe. The drawback to this- when you block some emotions you also block the emotions that a person wants to feel.
Conclusion
These are just a few of the reasons why people stay busy. Busy is not just busy. Maybe this sounds familiar and you would like to explore this further. If so, please feel free to reach out and schedule a free 15-minute consultation call.
